HANDS OFF MEDICAID

Starting the week of May 5, 2025

As Congress works through the details of how to cut up to $880 billion from Medicaid, it’s time for Kansans to make sure our elected leaders know: Hands Off Medicaid!

It’s not possible to make a cut this large without terminating health care for Kansans who get care through our Medicaid program, KanCare: low-income children, seniors, people with disabilities, and pregnant women.

Congress is considering many options to make cuts in Medicaid, but regardless of what specific proposals they come up with, Kansans will lose health care.

Let’s join together to make noise and ensure that our leaders in Congress know our message: Hands Off Medicaid!

How to participate:
  1. Call or email our representatives in Washington, DC, and make sure they know that you oppose cuts to Medicaid. You can find links to their websites (to send a message) and phone numbers on this document. You can call using the switchboard at 1-866-426-2631.
  2. Print, cut out, and display the black “Hands Off Medicaid” banner somewhere public. You can put it in a window of your home or vehicle (don’t obstruct any views!), or anywhere else that others might see it.
  3. Use the social media profile picture linked below and join us to black out social media starting TODAY to spread the word that Medicaid cuts are happening. Be sure to share the graphic with others on your social media using #HandsOffMedicaid and #HandsOffMedicaidKS. (Click on button below; jpg file will open in a new tab. Right click or Ctrl + click, then save the image to your device, and upload on social media.)
  4. Stay tuned for more information as details come out about specific proposals for Medicaid cuts. You can find them on our social media platforms (@ExpandKanCare on most sites), and through our email list.
