It’s time for Kelly to consider the nuclear option to expand Medicaid

2023: Year in Review

Now that 2023 is coming to a close, I thought this was a great opportunity to reflect on where the Alliance has been in 2023 and let you know where we are headed in the new year.

When we were putting together a list of the things we were the most proud of this past year, four areas shined brighter than the rest and they were all made possible because of our individual and organization partners across the state. I’d like to summarize our successes through the lenses of those four areas:

Opinion: Kan. is on the precipice of change in the mental health arena

Earlier this year, Mental Health America placed Kansas 51st in the nation (including DC) in terms of overall mental health. While Kansas’s 51st ranking isn’t about Medicaid expansion, it’s about Medicaid expansion. Kansas is one of only 10 states in the nation that has not expanded Medicaid.

The Legislature refuses to have hearings on KanCare expansion, and some legislators won’t even talk about it. We want to ask them: “Why?” It’s time for Step 4 of our “Steps to Expansion” initiative: “Ask Why” LTE campaign.

The Rally will take place in the Kansas Statehouse, 2nd floor north wing. The Kansas Statehouse is located in Topeka at SW 8th St & SW Van Buren St. There are various parking options around the statehouse, including street metered parking, the Statehouse Visitor garage (limited spaces & time limits apply), and other parking garages.
